Welcome to Mainframer India Substack
Mainframe community in India
Hello, this blog post is written by Senthil Nathan. I have been in the Mainframe world for about 2 decades and I always wanted to build a community around Mainframers in India.
Why this, why now
Mainframers in India are sometimes left out of community meetings that happens worldwide because of timezone issues. I would argue that we are the biggest market of young next generation mainframers in the world. Today, even Mainframe product companies are hiring a lot in India and this geography is now at a stage to help design the next wave of innovation in Mainframe. We have now reached a point where we have to organise ourselves to help each other and to help the ecosystem to grow.
Help others, Help yourself
Historically forums like ibmmainframes.com is where Mainframers interacted to know each other. Many of those were anonymous forums and while anonymity has it’s own utilities, I always wanted to build a forum where we are represented by our professional identity and get benefit out of it.
If this resonates with you, please join our slack community using this link. We expect to have conversations like mainframe tidbits, technical q&a, job opportunity postings, mainframe quiz and maybe someday real life meetups in that community.
We are still looking for volunteers in that community. So if you can contribute, please do join the #volunteer channel in that community.
What is this newsletter then?
In addition to the slack channels, we would like to publish a newsletter bi-weekly on Mainframe news and any event details in this page. This way, we can be in touch with each of you through email as well. We promise not to spam your email with more than one email a week. :)
